I wanna tell you a story. This record was released in 1992, and originally commissioned/produced by a house music loving property developer ( Andy Kilner). He had just opened a record shop in Sheffield called New World Record Corporation, hence the title.

The track was engineered/co-produced/mixed by Robert Gordon of the Forgemasters.
Anyone who heard the original master tape will tell you how amazing it sounded.

However,as you can hear, the sound quality of this recording is poor in a Chicago-trax-recycled-vinyl kind of way. That's a result of the old cutting machine that Rob Gordon used to master the vinyl. The lathe used to belong to Berry Gordy of Motown and was used to cut all the old Motown hits ,like Diana Ross , Jacksons etc and so had been in use for nearly 30 years and was pretty knackered.

Also to add to that, somebody apparently spilt water over the stampers (how?). I cant imagine that would have helped.

The B side had a mix by travelling sound system people DIY who had at the time just released a single on WARP.

Hope you enjoy it anyway.

  • Top tune by Andy and the lads from 1993. Had loads of these promos in New World Records, Sheffield when they released it. I worked there (albiet selling Hardcore to the Hardcore crowd) but now I wish I had kept a few copies as it is a rarity now. Happy days!

  • @Thank you Jack Master Jay! Mad memories of that shop, with you, Leigh, Winston Hazel and Andy...

  • if i could just get a piano score from this...

  • @roryorbit Youy can google youtube to mp3 and quickly upload this to an mp3 and there you go.

  • interesting, I agree, Robert Gorden eh, I saw him play the mixing desk once in FON, he seemed a little 'pissed' that a HOBO LIKE _ME_SELF was making 'music' and he stopped me from expressing MYSELF consequential to his bigotry, no hard feelings though... . . ...it wasn't eben one of my tracks, Martin Price throwing us in the deep end? wiv a crappy PIECE, experi-mental, (he had a migraine n cried off, leavin _ME_ n Niel to go @ tha 'job') n 4 sum REASON he was complicit in the 'restriction' ther.

  • late at night this will bring you...right up

  • my drug of choice was trance, but i can't stop playing this track!

  • amazing melody

  • @MrArea39 Was New World Records around before Warp? I was young in those days and know little of the history of record shops in Sheffield before 92-93. I remember buying Hardcore from Warp, Cush-D and Wolf (in the hole-in-the-road) before Hardcore died. Then I went to Area 51 for drum n bass.

  • Its there any quality downloadable copys of this stuff around??

  • Dj DMG likes this shit : )
