David james is one of the scariest individuals in the martial arts. Awesome teacher awesome school and REAL world martial arts techniques that WORK. The man is the real deal.

Yea I concure, I trained at his gym before 9/11 for a few classes. Above the boxing gym. after 9/11 the whole area suffered as well as the dojo. It was sad for a gem of a place.

The economy of downtown Manhattan was ruined by 9/11 for a few years. Besides the chaos, many firms moved out of the neighborhood and went to Jersey City across the river or further depriving the school of many students who would come after work. That's enough to cause any school to close.

Also, the area was locked down for a while, so he had no access to his place of business.

Yes, forgot about that. We were on the other side of Houston St. a mile north and the blockade there only lasted a week.
