Video of the University of Tennessee's LifeStar Bell 407 starting up and taking off from the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport. LifeStar is now owned by Med Trans.
@Timmy3358 yep. they replaced both of them with the EC-135s. They are very sharp if you haven't seen them they have vids on here. They still have the Bell 406 and 407s. Those are still my favorite.
That's a result of camera shutter speed. Remember video is just a bunch of still frames moving fast, like a flip book. Sometimes the Speed of the camera will be the same as the RPM of the rotors and the blades will appear to just stop in the vid.
@ Lurch900, Turbo??? There is no turbo on a Jet engine, or helicopters turboshaft engine. The smoke is just vapor from cold fuel shooting into warming parts. The engine isn't hot enough to fully burn off the fuel yet. Think of it like when you put starter fluid on BBQ coals that have gone out, and it creates that cloud of white smoke before it relights. Jet fuel is simply Kerosene with some minor additives.

The puff of smoke is actually the pilot igniting the air fuel mixture inside the jet turbines creating an amazing amount of thrust.

The puff of smoke is normal, it is the turbo kicking on... These things have a buttload of turbo in them

i dont really like the way 407s look without a rotor head cover.
