@eqsmooth I have to agree with you. TB's videos (3 of ) on ostinatos on the drum kit show what I would consider an almost sub human ability to multitask rhythmic patterns. That stuff is not quite MY cup of tea, but "normal drummer" he sure is not. I am an advanced prog rock type drummer..... but blimey!!!................I could not NEAR TOUCH what Bozzio can do. The guy is outstandingly brilliant.

I was most fortunate to see FZ live on one occasion back in circa 1980. Wackerman was holding down the drum chair, while little Stevie Vai was wailing on his six-string.
The downbeat was issued precisely at 8:00 PM. The band played continuously for two hours + with no respite. Their encore was "Whipping Post."
What I remember most about the concert was the extraordinary level of musicianship on full display--particularly with regards to the ensemble arrangements and execution.

I believe its left to right: Ralph Humphrey, Chester Thompson, (Terry) Chad Wackerman, and Ruth Underwood

I like Terry Bozzio. I really do. Seems such a nice guy. That's sometimes hard to find in a muso so gifted. More power to ya, Mr Bozzio. Keep pounding, Mate... \m/ (:o)

Terry refers to himself as a NORMAL" drummer. ha ha ha. One of the greatest. I've known about him since the 70's met w/him one on one and saw him perform live twice. He is NOT a normal drummer. His playing is way beyond this galaxy yet he exudes humility and respect.

@ChrisBurling42 this is untrue. Terry was sitting in on a rehearsal, with Vai and vinnie in the band. vinnie was playing Mo n Herbs vacation (which is in some ways more complex than TBP). vinnie had sushi set up on his stand, and he gets to a super challenging point, and simultaneously turns the page with one hand, while picking up chopsticks/sushi in the other and playing with his feet. Terry got up and left. not sure on the source...check wikipedia under Vinnie

what a load of woffle
Prefer his hair in the drum channel drum jams though :O. Seriously though he seems like a real nice guy, in the Thomas Pridgen and Lang roundtables he seems so down to earth and there is a moment at the end of the Thomas Lang drum jam when he just gives all the musicians a hug.

@patrickforpresident Yeah, you get the impression that they are also rather humbled by the praise. I mean Terry Bozzio, is a *seriously* great musician. One of the best I've ever heard, but he knows that he is also in the presence of greatness with every person in that room. The respect they all have for each other and for Frank and his music is just wonderful. The art that Frank and his bands created during that period of time is astoundingly good.
