Filmed at Bills home in the Summer of 1988 during a small rainstorm (you can hear the static of the rain in the background), Bill honors us with one of his favorite tunes, "WHAT'S THE USE OF GETTING SOBER, WHEN I KNOW I'M GOING TO GET DRUNK AGAIN". Known for his Washboard playing, he was also an accomplished ukulele player, often taking the small instrument down to the corner and playing for passersby's.
One of a few Blues artists given the Florida heritage award, he once recorded an album for the Smithsonian (!) with Pete Seeger and Brownie McGhee and cut several singles for King Records. In his youth he was a bona fide Hobo, riding the rails along the Eastern Seaboard. He was a storyteller and joke master supreme. His business card read simply, "WASHBOARD BILL - RHYTHM, BLUES, COMEDY".
