Burning Man - Rites of Passage - Black Rock City (BRC)
Temple of Transition - International Arts Megacrew (IAM)
It is 2011, the year before the Mayan calendar ends, archaeologist's find the lost City of Atlantis, the seeds of terrorism are being individually eradicated by machines and the 'Temple of Transition' was built, adorned, loved, marvelled, grieved, and then burned. Black Rock City has dissappeared and it's inhabitants will disperse out into the world with their inspiration, aspirations and dreams for 2012.
The Temple of Gratitiude stands at 120 feet tall with sweeping arches designed and built by the International Arts Megacrew (IAM) represented by 12 countries, with over 300 volunteer crew members, thousands of patrons, and over 50,000 visitors partook in this global migration to participate, contribute and be witness to this metaphysical celebration.
The Temple of Gratitude is embraced by sound components called the Gamalatron and Earth Harp with five surrounding temples by the names Temple of Birth, Growth, Union, Decay, and Death. It should be noted that TIME magazine published "The World's 100 Most Important Places, An Illustrated Journey 2011" and listed Black Rock City as number 100. Along with Monet's Garden at 96, Renaissance Florence at 92, Brooklyn Bridge at 86, The Great Wall of China at 52, The Forbidden City at 37, Vatican City at 22, Delphi at 19, Mecca at 17, Easter Island at number 9, The Acropolis at number 2 and Pyramid of Khufu and The Sphynx at number 1.
It is with all this information that one humbly moves forward knowing that they are now part of an ancient ancestry of knowledge and wisdom that in our age manifests a splendor of digital and creative output. The footage contained in this document is only one highlight of the spectacular of Black Rock City and it's people.
