@Brendon00000 they did pretty well going in circles at 190+ mph though haha

must have been a beast to handle. reminds of the petty video at riverside. fun cars to drive but they are big and heavy and get away on you quick.
-
@ronjcharity I'm sure if you buy him another original Superbird in this shape... he'd prolly put some eibachs on it just for you.lmfao

Great memories indeed! It was definitely a different place and a different time back then. The footage is from our 1983 Mopar Nationals DVD. We have the 1985 Mopar Nationals on DVD also but there was no gymkhana competition there that year though. We thought about going to that drive-in movie deal that night but I took my white Superbird and the owner of the Petty Blue Hemi Bird and some other folks went out to Telegraph Road and cruised the boulevard that night. Totally awesome memories.

I didn't know they had the nats in Chelsea in `83... we went to the `85 (and several at Columbus) in my dad's `64 Sport Fury.. `87 we both drove, him in his Fury, me in my `68 Road Runner... I have a great pic of the `85 nats of all the `birds and daytonas lined up in Chelsea... looked like an airport !!

'83 was the first year the Nats was at Milan Dragway on Saturday and Chelsea on Sunday. '84 was the Indy Speedway and '85 was back to Milan and Chelsea. '81 and '82 were both at Chelesea for Saturday and Sunday. '86-'92 was Columbus. '93-'97 was Indy and back to Columbus for '98 to now. It sounds like you and your dad had a blast in the Sport Fury and the Runner. My white Bird was in that line of wings at Chelsea. I remember that morning like it was yesterday! Where have the years gone?

cool that car was only 13 years old, during the time of video

Yup, and what's kinda weird and kinda cool at the same time is that back then, there were already Mopar events like the one this video was shot at and our Mopars were already "classic cars" to us. Wing cars and Hemi cars were already priced at more than they cost new. Not too many of today's 13 year old musclecars from 1995 can lay claim to that.
