We're Gonna Be Okay
Liz Fulmer
is it really 6 pm
how could i have slept through my alarm again
did i forget to pay the rent
i been meaning for days now, meaning to mail out, but there it is unsent
liquor bottles on the floor
shouldn't i have saved that money for the grocery store
laundry waiting in a pile
now i'm all out of clothing, too tired for self loathing, and too upset to smile
no i dont know where to start
to upside down and wrong side out, i'm falling apart
Oh, I think we're gonna be okay
We're gonna be okay, okay
Lift your head, even when you lose your way
We're gonna be okay, okay
things were simple as a kid
but all i ever wanted to do was grow the hell out of it
now the bills all say my name
they are real and they're mine, there's too many to hide, and those bunk beds sure look great
i could use a do over
or maybe choose to act older
Oh, I think we're gonna be okay
We're gonna be okay, okay
Lift your head, even when you lose your way
We're gonna be okay, okay
pick yourself up
you're not a screw up
no better time than now
look straight ahead
one foot then the next
and when you think you're by yourself
look around and see everybody else
