Some heavy seas - probably up to 25ft at time though the largest set of waves I missed videoing. Winds were gusting near 100mph at times.
A lot of the size is lost given the massive size of the ship.
Video shot from the 17th floor bar and we were in the Tasman Sea off the southern coast of NZ headed to Tasmania.
Nothing like seeing the coroners car and a hearse waiting for our arrival in Tasmania.

  • I stepped off the Dawn Princess this morning. We also had weather and waves like this that meant we had to miss the Fjordlands. Was very disappointed, but the rest of the cruise was fantastic.

I feel your pain. To me the Fjordlands were to be the highlight. We were in Queenstown the week before and held off on going there thinking we would see it on the Cruise. Will have to do it again (though will jump off the ship if I miss it again!). Hope you had a fantastic cruise - Ours was unforgettable!!

  • was it scary and did you get seasick?

  • @player01able

No - not scary at all. Made for a more interesting day at sea. Only bad thing was we had to skip Fijordland National Park which was to be the highlight of the trip. Next time!!

Did not have any issues with sea sickness at all. Only time I in anyway felt queezy was when the sea was almost dead calm - the slight motion was enough to throw me out of balance but not the heavy seas or motion - guess I knew I was moving then.

  • Sounds like everyone is having tea, lol

  • @shawnfarand

I was up in the bar - people were drinking and enjoying the show outside.

  • Just had an experience like this one myself. Wife and I went on a cruise to Bermuda the end of Oct. Hit a low pressure system on the way back with waves around 25'. I loved it, but I don't think many of the other passengers felt the same as me.

  • oh man the Tasman Sea... don't miss it!

  • I was saved by the princess midway between Norway and Svalbard.think it was in 2000.We were in the arctic waters and I had to get to shore because of an incident in the family.I still remember all the flash from cameras from over 1,000 tourists on the ship's side, when I was "helped" on board in 10 knots and big waves beat against the ship. Thanks to the captain, and the nice lady who gave me a golden lucky dollar, the dollar worked, and I got home in time ! Espen

  • FOR SOME REASON THE IDEA OF FLOATING HELPLESS IN WAS THAT YOU CAN'T SWIM IN SEEMS COMPLETELY POINTLESS TO ME.

  • lol even when the cruise ship is sinking, your not supposed to panic. Your supposed to enjoy your last minutes
