1958 Evinrude 18hp Fastwin.wmv

This is my 1958 Evinrude 18 hp Fastwin, this motor is a beast it has tons of torque and throws my boat around like a rag doll, but then again my boat is only rated for 10 hp. I replaced the normal items like coils, impeller and carb. rebuld. Since I live in a state surrounded by saltwater it's hard to find pressure tanks that aren't rusted out and the ones I can find are so overpriced I just convert my motors to run on a fuel pump.

I bought a bypass cover from a later model 18 hp power that has the mounts for the fuel pump. OMC started installing fuel pumps on their Evinrudes and Johnsons in 1960 so look for a motor from 1960 on.

I just got a very nice one of these, I;m going to convert it as well to a fuel pump, mines is the electric start, I just got the bypass port off a later 18 for the conversion. Yours sound great!
