So i just picked this up with a razer mamba mouse to replace my 80's sony walkman headset and gateway 98 desktop mic (you can see those on the desk).

Newegg had an awsome deal, 107 bucks for the headset and a free razer sc2 mouse ($70). Well, now I know why they are practically giving them away xD.

The headset's base station gives off ungodly amounts of 2.4 ghz freq. interference. If you have a 2.4 ghz wireless network, your neighbors have a 2.4 wireless net work, or other electronics like phones etc are around that use a 2.4 ghz frequency, then these headsets are your worst nightmare. My computer still picks up my router just cause it is nearby, but a lot of the time, data transfer from my pc to the router is unable to get through due to interference.
Also to note: the wall adapter has many different interchangeable sockets so it is inter-nationally useable, however there seems to be a manufacturing issue as the longer it is pluged in, the louder this nauseating, ocillating high pitched noise gets.

  • yeah it raping my internet too i go from 30 mbps to like 5 so you what size wire do you recommend i buy i currently have like a 3foot wire which rapes my internet :S

  • @omegarockz The one in the video is 6 feet long. Although it still drops my connectivity by about half. 22 Mbps to 8-12 Mbps. You could probably pick up 9 or 12 ft long cables from newegg for a buck and change each and stick the base station in a closet or something xD But it seems that most of the interference comes from the headset unit itself and not actually the base station. Personally I've sadly had to use mine as a paper weight. You just cant use these with a wireless setup.

  • nah, mamba works fine.

  • set the channel frequency on your router to 1.most of the wireless devices used nowadays have a channel 6 frequency.

  • @ismelllikeaturd I've already tried that and anything else i could possibly think of. most devices broadcast on a 20 mhz width, so channel 6 shares some interference from 4-8. Tried using channels 1,6 and 11 but there is still too much interference for whatever reason. Moving the base station away from the computer helps a lot so i'm thinking of just buying 12 foot long 3.5 mm calbes and shoving the base station in my closet or something xD

  • This headset won't work for my Xbox 360, i try to sync it and the beep sound for fully synced appears, but then i lose my connection to Xbox live and it still uses TV audio.

  • I have the same problem :( Cant really use it because of that, really depressing.

Did you ever figured a way to fix that?

  • @WoWrowrin dam.... well i do use it for my xbox 360 which works great but now i need to find out a way to connect my laptop to my router which is 2 floors down -_- well thanks for the help

  • @WoWrowrin my advice to you would be to if you bough the 200$ chimera to buy a some wireless astros and if you bought the regular to buy a turtle beach x41

  • @WoWrowrin does the mamba give off any interference turn off the chimera and see
