@AMGalego Enjoyed your trombonetics (apologetics for bone sections) - deliberately going sharp to vary the performance - very creative (excuse that is). Please do regale us with your trumpetics (apologetics for trumpet sections) and explain why the trumpets are all over the place on the F Ab Bb figure at 3 minutes 17 sec. (start listening here 3:15 to catch it )

@fctchk look back at the video. for trombones, They slide inward from what looks like 4th position, meaning the note is gonna go sharp. The trumpets maintain a constant pitch at the points you mentioned, and all of those points are equal, meaning it was intentionally done by the section. Congrats for taking the time to spot out how the ensemble takes measures to make performances different from each other.

@AMGalego "I don't see where they are out of tune." I don't either; pitch is usually heard, not seen:
Trombones go from A to G at 0:15 and the G goes out of tune starting at 0:17 through 0:18. Trumpets don't maintain pitch on the Ab at 0:34, 0:35, 0:36. Trumpets attempt at unison at 3:17. Compare to the same phrase at 3:20 where they get it (kinda)right (after having practiced it at 3:17 LOL)
Oh wait, is this recorded back in the analog tape days? Must be the Wow and Flutter then.

@fctchk Clearly you don't understand that music is one of the only ways cultures connect, and that covers are done to honor artists' creations while putting ones own "flavor" on it. Also arrangements technically mean that you have reworked a piece somehow but it still the same tune. Secondly, I don't see where they are out of tune. Do you know what music is? or did you slam on the keyboard like a monkey and manage to type that out?

i didn't know seth rogen played drums!
-
Don't recognize most of the personnel except for Stan Mark. Maybe most of them were LA session players brought in for this. That's not Erskine on drums nor is Ron Tooly around. Hm.
-
Maynard and his 80s touring band with many of his most recognizable players. Good stuff.
-
1:07 that is quite possibly the sexiest bass player I've ever seen.

This video combines two of my musical loves: Maynard Ferguson and Michael Jackson. Perfection!
