3rd Annual New Schools EXPO Day-Of Media Coverage

4,500 parents and students attended the NEW SCHOOLS EXPO, sponsored by Parents for School Choice and the Chicago Public Schools, on Saturday January 30th, 2010 at Soldier Field to learn about and apply to the city's new public charter, contract and performance schools. The EXPO showcased 85 public schools of choice and also offered parents the opportunity to attend workshops that covered important school choice topics such as: What Makes a Quality School, How to Choose a School, Parent Engagement Before & After Enrollment, What Makes a Charter School Unique, and more.

At noon, community and faith-based leaders joined parents and students in a rally to call for the creation of more quality public school options in the citys underserved communities. Speakers at the rally included: Governor Patrick Quinn; Mayor Richard M. Daley; Ron Huberman, CEO, Chicago Public Schools; Tim King, CEO, Urban Prep Academies; parents and students.
