it's not a true male it is impossible for a male cat to be calico because the colors that make calico cats are on the X chromosome so it would have to be the rare XXY makeup instead of the standard XY.

Yeah, it's about a 1/100 chance of it being male.

Though, they're not "truly" male genetically. Their make up would be XXY, thus why it's expressed.

actually I had a friend in 4-H who had a male calico the vet confirmed it was a male when he took it in to get a check up.

The vet said it is extremely rare to have a male calico but occasionally one does show up that is a male.

Yes and that exception would not be able to reproduce ^^ Male calicos are sterile. XD Bit of trivia there for you ;p

Yes, but generally any male tortoiseshells are infertile.
