  • As for the CODE stolen from Oracle, this is a misguided info that was published in the engadget website. Even zdnet got that but later on a developer from the zdnet website downloaded the files and checked them out for the copied lines. There were NO such thing !!! source : ZDNET "Oops: No copied Java code or weapons of mass destruction found in Android"

  • I am from Turkey and the meanings of the software are pretty funny in pardus as well as its name.

such as mudur: which translates to principle :) it is like the software center... :)

I was one of the first ones to try it out back in the day it was released, and man, it sucked bad by then:)

I can help you out in any point if you want to make a video of pardus linux; i might be able to make it more interesting if you have a video :)

  • Hi, nice review, I'd like to share my insights, I am an overseer and developer of 13 Linux distro's in the past and my conclusion is it all comes down to web based services and cloud applications on desktop, that's the way everything seems to be going, and the most obvious I can think of, a lot like Chrome OS but the contents will use all the processing power on the computer, so it's an end-point meeting in between, something like a 3D movie in XML, but the computer is doing all the processing.

  • You may want to review Arista. It's a gtk based video/audio transcoder that does WebM. MyPaint is another good app that should be promoted!

  • @OperaLinux oh, I see it. Never, ever use your default desktop to do screenshots/screencasts... I make it a point to put all my files away (or just keep them somewhere else).

Thanks. There's a good one at LinuxBSDos . com "Pardus 2011 Review". What interests me about Pardus is the fact that it is built from scratch, not based on an earlier distro. Most of the reviews I've seen remark on Pardus' stability (in a good way). Many complain about the fact that there are fewer packages in the repository; but, the wiki shows how to convert .rpm packages to pisi packages. (PISI= Package Installed Successfully, as Intended).

  • @thisweekinlinux The web was built by the military. Remember Arpanet? Anyone who thinks "information wants to be free" can be achieved after the Bill Gates vs. Gary Kildall episode, doesn't understand capitalism. Innovation requires free and open collaboration amongst innovators. But once you produce something saleable, marketing departments take over. Look how Edison made a fortune out of an obscure light bulb patent he bought.
