Keep America Safe Releases Mini-Documentary The People of Standish

WASHINGTON, DC (November 19, 2009) - Today Keep America Safe released the mini-documentary, "The People of Standish. Standish is home to Standish Max, one of the sites being considered by the Obama administration to house the terrorists now being safely detained at Guantanamo Bay. The people of Standish are rallying and speaking out against this administrations ill-considered and dangerous proposal -- but don't take it from us, listen to them.

The recent news that the Obama administration is now considering the Thomson Correctional Center in Thomson, IL, as a possible site for housing the remaining detainees at Guantanamo Bay makes four such potential sites on American soil--that is if you don't consider the Metropolitan Correctional Facility in New York City.

This latest addition to the growing list of potential host prisons shows that the administration is still committed to its perilous plan to close Gitmo and bring al Qaeda trained terrorists to American soil. Housing and trying these war criminals in the civilian criminal system rewards these terrorists for their horrifying acts and puts American citizens in greater danger.

The most pressing logistical problem confronting the administration on this issue is not a lack of available prison space--it is finding a community willing to accept the world's most dangerous war criminals and to buy into disingenuous claims of economic stimulus and local job growth.

President Obama and his attorney general have refused to heed the advice of national security experts, elected officials, and most importantly the citizens of these communities. Keep America Safe hears the concerns of the citizens of these towns and their message is clear: keep Gitmo's terrorists off US soil.

Well this shouldn't mater soon Obama just said this past nov. that closing GITMO would be a mistake. Its pretty obvious that we are and should just leave GITMO open and should. Nobody wants them so we should just leave them there. All we have to do is take the torture aspect out of the equation and everyone is happy. It should be noted as well that out of 24,000 investigations done on interrogation sessions by the FBI, military, & US Dept of Justice that there have only been 3 violations

The Supreme Court has ruled that unlawful combatants may be detained until the fighting is over, exactly as it is spelled out in the internationally accepted rules of war. Were you there when they were picked up? The subject is not unproven claims of job creation. One of the speakers was a head of the prison union. He has fought for jobs and has learned that none of the guards there now will stay. Does your fuzzy math account for the net loss? One New York trial is going to cost 70 million extra they say will not be covered by the Feds, New Yorkers are footing the bill, and you want to bring how many terrorists here to satisfy a pledge to "change" America into something our enemies find more palatable?
