"My Prayer" was originally composed in 1926 as an instrumental piece by Romanian violinist Georges Boulanger and entitled "Avant de Mourir". Lyrics were added in 1939 at which point both the Glenn Miller Orchestra as well as the Ink Spots recorded hit versions of it. However, by far the most popular version of the song was recorded in 1956 by The Platters with Tony Williams on lead vocal. "My Prayer" was the #1 song in the nation during the summer of that year.
No question; the best version I ever heard, and I've been listening for over sixty years. Thank you for placing it here for all of us to enjoy.

At sweet 16, I was living that soft summer of this release, and it was wonderful...as we danced, I looked at him and thought, "I will love him until the day I die. And that has never changed.
Thanks for the memories.

Beautiful song and what a beautiful rendition! Tony Williams was a truly great singer and maybe a bit unappreciated.
