It is important to be sure your ball position stays consistent in your set-up. It's not that you can't move the ball slightly forward or back in your stance, but when you are hitting normal shots, you want to be as consistent as you can be. The second part is to aim at a target. All too often, golf instructors witness people practicing without any target in mind. You must narrow your focus and start the ball at a target. If you aim correctly, the odds are good you'll start to swing the club better as well. When you aim poorly, you have to make compensations with your swing to get the ball to go where you want it.
