  • Succinylcholine does have its advantages over a nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocker--this is why we still use it in anesthesia today. Malignant hyperthermia affects 1 in 40 000 adults, and thus is a very rare reaction. Today, we can give rocuronium and sugammadex to patients who have a genetic predisposition for malignant hyperthermia.

  • succinylcholine is a bastard! Don't use it!
