"baby" when she heard him say it like that with a sigh she knew what she is asking is impossible "I know..." not letting him say it instead she focused on enjoying the phone call to her advantage 

"I was beginning to forget how your voice sounded" she told him "I want to see you so bad for your eyes to look into mine for you to hold me, touch me, kiss me. . ."

As he listened to her go on his heart ached wishing he could really go and do that, she really does want him because in no other situation would she confess to him with no hesitation what she is feeling so freely that's just not who she is

"I want that too" ironically he was sitting on his couch looking at her picture when she called "I think about you everyday"

she smiled a bit "really...you're not just saying that?" 

"I'm not forgetting you if that's what you've been thinking, didn't I tell you I wasn't? baby I love you" she shut her eyes taking in his sweet words "are you ok? are they treating you well?" she sighed "it's not what I thought I feel like I'm in a prison miserable where all I do is miss you" 

he frowned through the phone "Sel I'm still going to be here but you're there to work on you so just try the sooner you do the sooner you get to come home to me"

"yeah I know. ." Demi motioned for her to hang up already as she stood by the door "I have to go now I love you Nick" the last thing he wants is to hang up so soon but he kept it together "I love you too baby" 

She didn't say goodbye she just ended the call and handed the phone back to Demi while keeping herself from crying even more in front of the nice girl but a stranger is what she is 

"thanks" Demi smiled "no problem I know what it feels like" 

"how did you get the phone?" curious hoping maybe she could get one "I've been in like three of these group homes I have my connections" both of them laughed at the same time "don't worry though I'll let you borrow it whenever I can" she added honestly "thanks again" 

the door opened revealing Kim the manager of the facility 

"the door must remain open and Demi back to your room" Demi gave Selena one last smile before standing up and walking out followed by Kim

She laid back on her bed remembering Nick's voice and what he said to her it did make everything feel better she realize she needs to stop being so hardheaded and scared and just let go of everything to be herself but in a better way, the way Nick sees her


---a couple months later

Selena calls every other week he literally spends his hours after work staring at the phone hoping for a call it's almost pathetic since he knows she's alright she's finally coping with her rough up bringing and focusing on how to deal with her emotions without going crazy he is happy about that, but missing her and wishing that the young girl that he loves to finally be back won't go away 

"Nick c'mon we're going out"

Joe walked into his dark apartment opening the curtains reveling the sunsetting sky 

"what? no I have papers to grade" shaking his head "it's a damn Saturday do it tomorrow you need fresh air, socializing"

"I'm fine" but Joe wasn't giving up "bro I know you miss her going out isn't going to change that but at least it will distract you a bit"

sighing "yeah I guess your right" he agreed "take a shower and freshen up" standing up he listen to his older brother without enthusiasm

"I don't want anything" sitting at the bar Joe rolled his eyes and gave the bartender two fingers then two cups were place in front of them

"loosen up Nick" he didn't answer just grabbed the cup that was cold due to ice and brought to his lips to take a sip 

the alcohol burned down his throat but it didn't taste bad, but all it did was remind him more of Selena which instead of stopping him it didn't he just finished it faster and asked for another one and then another and another feeling the alcohol quickly since he hardly ever drinks 

"you know she's turning eighteen next week" he slurred at Joe "yeah I know" he answered

Wiping his lips "I'm going to ask her to marry me" Joe immediately turned to him with wide eyes even though Nick is drunk he knows he is speaking the truth "no your not"

"yes I am, she is the one" standing up "I'm going to the restroom"

He stumble a little through the crowded bar until really bumping into someone hard he felt the drink the person had on their hand spill onto his shirt "shit" he hissed 

"Nick"

he looked up to find Miley's oceanic color eyes staring at him
