We rebelled against King George for far less infringements

Rep. Nadler: "Let's review. The government can snatch anyone who is not a U.S. citizen, whether or not they are actually doing anything and detain them in jail forever. We rebelled against King George III for far less infringements 200 years ago but we seem to have forgotten. This makes the President a dictator. For someone that can jail someone forever, that is power. The President does not want to be bound by the law of war or our treaty obligations. He does not want to answer to the constitution or to the Congress or the courts. Mr. Speaker, rarely in the life of a nation is a question so stark, are we going to rush through all we stand for before congress? I hope we're better than that."
