The first is probably still the best news open in Chattanooga. For 1987 it freaking rocks, the unfortunate part is I don't have the whole thing, but you get the idea...and it has Pam Newby. The second part has an open from 1988 and includes the late MaryEllen Locher. This was a big deal for the news to be on at 5:30pm.. they had been doing it about a year and this was the last broadcast. WTVC was a POWER when they had a news hour at 6pm. Then WRCB started Live At 5:30 and made a dent so WTVC chopped the hour and went 5:30 - 6:30. It didn't work and they went back to the hour. It also didn't help they dumped Pam Newby.

  • I don't think I have anything else pre 94. I'm still searching for another tape I had and it has some stuff from around 94 but I just can't find it.... and MJ did not come to Chattanooga, it was an April Fool's joke by KZ106.

  • @jwgreek8606 Paul Anthony based on the voice and the fact that he did WLNE, too.

  • R.I.P. MaryEllen Locher

  • was that Bill Ratner voicing the 1987 open for TVC?

  • This channel sucks.

  • The first one has music also used by WLNE Providence, with the same open premise, flyovers.

  • Lol wow what a cruel joke

  • And I dont mean to be a bother, but Im just wondering if you have any more of the Michael Jackson cocert story? IF you dont have it or dont want to post it, thats fine. So, did MJ ever actually come to the Scenic City?

  • Oh my, this truly is stunning. I hate to ask, but do you have anything else from WTVC pre 1994? If not, fine, I dont wanna push too hard.

  • Hi, I'm Jeremy Lebron Byrd. This is WTVC was 1987 and 1988.
