Government is necessary for many functions... from the military, to police protection, firefighting, the FCC, FDA, etc. All you right wingers keep harping on 'big government', when your asshole President Bush has rung up the biggest gov defecit ever (bailout and Iraq war)! sophie, wanting a leader who is promising that the role of the government is there to take care of you is slavery. Slave masters worked their slaves and in return they gave them shelter, food, and medical care. So you are mistaken. Look at Obama as the slave master and you are the slave. That's what you want. This is a HUGE victory for the USA, and world, that has been a long time coming!!! After 8 years of Bush misleadership, ineptness, and terrible judgement, Americans have HAD ENOUGH! This time, they elected an intelligent, rational, passionate leader who will restore democracy and humanity to this country! The hatemongering and divisive Limbaughs, O'Reillys, Coulters, and Hannitys of the world have become obsolete.
