I meant to say in a silent copy or sound copy.

What is the preservation of this movie, like how does it survive, in a silent copy of sound copy.
-

That happens in the routine in Footlights Parade when the army guys are doing their gun twisting bit , Watch carefully you can see 2 diferent guys drop their guns but you can't see them at the same time.

Hello Victorian 1888! That's another one of my favorites! Also, just to get a laugh from this clip, check out the chorus girl, third from the left at about 1:13 into the clip. She looses her balance and slips! Too funny! I love catching mistakes in these chorus girl numbers. I guess 'retakes' were too expensive!! LOL!

Given the expense of shooting technicolor in 1929, is it possible that the color sections might have been the same in both versions, I wonder?
It would be awesome if this got restored & put out on DVD. It's not very likely I suppose.
Which film is this from? Who is the actor?

This is an extremely rare clip from the 1929 movie Broadway. The singer is Glenn Tryon. Merna Kennedy and Evelyn Brent are also seen.
The movie is considered partially lost since the sound version is missing the color parts.
I made this clip synchronizing the surviving soundtrack to footage from the silent version.

Sorry, I'm commenting again!
This is why I love the earliest musicals. The old, dreamy-looking 2-strip Technicolor, the tinny, fun, silly songs, the big dances...it's just all made to please, not trying to be high art, and I think just like the 1920's. Wonderful nonsense. This excerpt just takes you way back to 1929 with the song and the atmosphere of the club...ah-mazing!
