American Patrol was originally written and performed as a 2/4 march "at the turn of the century". Jerry Gray adapted it as a 4/4 swing tune. Big difference.

Hi Ron! What do you think of the speed we played this back in 1983?

Do anyone know is any of the original members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra still alive?

Trombonist Paul Tanner is still kicking, and lives in the San Diego area. He was present at the gig we played there a few months ago. Great guy.

Just beautiful how and about 0:25 they have the brass only play the accented notes, gives them the "umph" that they need. Glenn Miller should've been alive to see the progress jazz made after he passed

WOW!
I love it.
Glenn Miller sure knew how to create great music.
It is too bad that he died so young.
Just think of the music he would have made in the years after.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
