WOW!! this is sooo GREAT!! wish every school and teacher would be like that!! Teaching kids love compassion and caring for eachother and our world!! :D

While true, the same goes for Japanese schools. This is just a very special teacher. The difference is, our system would not allow him to teach and would likely fire him.

no empathy in modern western schools - just a hideous environment of competition and bullying.

This is so different from when I was in school. If a child dared to show emotion, god forbid cry, they would be yelled at and punished like it was no tomorrow. My father's death when I was a child was used as a weapon for the teacher to torment and harass me further.
