COURTENAY - The owners of a Comox Valley pet store were squawking after a prized parrot was stolen.

While there have been much bigger crimes in the valley, few have been as bizarre.

A man and woman walked into a Courtenay pet shop, the man distracted the owners and the woman stuffed a parrot in her purse and smuggled it out of the store.

Thanks to video surveillance, this bird story has a happy ending.
