RIP Nicholas Courtney. Only the death of Sir Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart could have convinced the Doctor to trudge off to his own appointed murder. For all the threats to Earth that he fought, its strangely fitting that Sir Alistair passed away in quiet, comfortable surroundings. I wonder if Doris died before him and if his daughter Kate (from Downtime) put him in that care home. So long, Brigadier. You may be gone, but never ever forgotten.

We lost 2 great performers whose shoes can never be refilled.....but if by chance they find a actor/actress double, I hope that he or she gives them the respect to their characters role and keep their spirit alive....

So glad they acknowledged his death in Doctor Who - was a touching, sad moment, and the Doctor looked heartbroken.

I had no idea! Really sad to hear the Brig has finally passed away. The song says it all. THE BEST!! We had a 6.3magnitude earthquake here in Cristchurch on the same day he died which is so freaky. I guess I missed it on the news at the time because we had no power for ages. Funny way to find out. So many great memories of the Brig down the years - he helped Dr Who carry on for so long. At least we have all his old stories and interviews to remember how great he was!

Goodbye Nicholas, you will be missed by everyone
It's been nearly two weeks since his passing, and i must've seen most of the tributes to this wonderful man a thousand times over, and yet i still weep when i think of him no longer being with us. Wonderful chap: sadly missed xx
