After some searching on Google I found out on the Andy Hill fansite that Bad English was the first to record it. All the others are at least 1 year later, inc David Foster.

@jjhdebruin Bad English's version is good but Pointer sisters' version is better, more fluid and soft. :) It is worth the listen though you're right bout that.

Yes it is Peter Sinfield, that's what was written in the Pointer sisters tracklist of the album Only SIsters Can do THat.'

@recordinghopkins is it David? i read in the wikipedia review of the album Only Sisters Can DO That, it was not David who originally wrote it. I was really looking for proof that David was the writer but cant find any. WHat i read was, David Foster has an album that had this song but he collaborated with Bad English. thats what i read so far.
