I'm confused. I thought that what made these videos so special was that there were no cheats, yet in this video the player apparently used a bug to advance to the next level. Could someone explain to me how this is consistent with the "no cheat" claim? I don't mean this as an accusation or criticism: I just would like to know what is going on. Thanks for any help you can give me.

As you said yourself, this is a bug. It's called trigger-bug. It has nothing to do with any kind of cheats, this works for everyone except PS versions, IIRC. Basically, if Lara is embedded in a corner, jumping up (or just embedding irself if you're lucky) can activate a nearby trigger. It can be a cutscene, enemy spawn, door opening and even triggers that loads another level, which is this case.
