The very tall (3726 m) volcano Rinjani in the Indonesian island of Lombok is rumbling again. Spending a night on the crater rim is an unforgettable experience.

@MickeyBarth17 , Because I knew how strenous the hike would have been (I had already climbed Rinjani twice), I decided to use my small HD Sony camera
(HDR-HC3). Its quality is excellent, hardly distinguishable from the larger Z1U.

Excellent ! Great scenes and thought the dramatic backing a good choice. Very well edited. How long does it take to climb?

From the village of Senaru, at ~700m altitude, it takes, for somebody as old as me, about 10 hours to climb the ~2000 m to the old crater rim (2700 m); to reach the very top (3,726m), when permissable, it is ~5 hours more, followed by a quick descent to base camp.
