  • was my other comment deleted? if so, why? my god, I hope you're not butthurt over me saying that there is some ego involved between Marc and John. jesus, guys, it's called having a sense of humor. you might try it some time.

  • @ALLCAPSARCHER09 - I dont delete comments, not sure what your talking about. Probably stupid youtube stuff, or user error :)

As for your argument, both Cburton and you ALLCAPSSARCHER09 are correct IMO. Marc is not just randomly shredding when he wants, he is following Zorn's conduct. and they are clearly working a ton of improvisation inside those movements. This is how most jazz works. You may call out a 'key' or 'time signature' or even a 'feel' and improvisation takes over. Noisy Shred Jazz

  • @brainphreak Exacty, it also depends on the player's improvisation skill. At least in this case, but there are different ones. Like Frank Zappa, who writes pretty much everything, leaving very little room for improvisation, and changes the arrangements for every show, IMO the best band conductor on live shows...and other things, but lets not turn this to "the best overall musician poll".

  • @CBurton - Yeah I know exactly what you are saying. Zappa's band also had a lot of flexability and improvisation as well, it was just more well rehearsed if you know what I mean. They also improvised plenty live as things took odd twists and turns and they were forced to 'adapt'. I think zappa kept everyone on their toes, and they were strung along, he definitely had a TON of control over them leaving less room to write their own parts on the spot, but they still improvised in between songs etc.

  • where can i find the mp3?

  • ....sick

  • @brainphreak exactly *

  • what is the name of this first cut???? My I love it!!! Is it a single? Someone help me . . . please. I gotta get this cut.

  • @CBurton yeah, but you can't tell me all this stuff is written out. There is clearly TONS of improvisation going on. The different sections or "movements", if you will, are all laid out, but the player clearly has a lot of leeway in deciding WHAT to play in those sections.

  • @ALLCAPSARCHER09 Not that Marc isn't awesome, because he is a great guitar player , but he's following Zorn's conduct, not randomly shredding whenever he wants.
