Because our world would be far worse off without space exploration. People take for granted all the benefits - medical, technological, scientific, that come from space exploration. The list is too exhaustive, but a quick Google search will reveal why NASA is one of the most important government agencies (certainly the best). NASA gets less than 1% of the US federal budget.
