To quite a lot of the fuss, here is how you get into these beta preview programs and stop getting yourself temporarily banned from xbox live. Below are links I have clicked and filled out over the years and then been able to get access to the betas that everyone goes nuts about.

So yeah, Just FOLLOW Xbox Scene via RSS feeds (the little wifi signal thing next to the Star in the awesome bar ---Firefox---. Click it and use Google Reader to get the updates from that Website) That is what I do with YouTube and tons of other sites, and it's how you stay up to date with Xbox Scene, without ever visiting there site. (Until they say, An update preview program is live, click now. THEN CLICK IT. haha)
For the status of when the Dashboard will be released to the public, click this link, http://goo.gl/zDSx I can't give you a link to this because I get my updates by just signing into Xbox LIVE.
I got kicked off xbox live tonight (October 25th, 2010) and when I tried to sign back in, there was yet ANOTHER update! This version doesn't seem to add any new features or anything. But it goes from Dashboard 2.0.12606.0 to Dashboard 2.0.12607.0 One number difference. I am going to bed. I will edit this more tomorrow.

4/24/2011 (EASTER) I use AVS. I do NOT use Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 anymore! It failed on me one to many times and I was able to buy AVS for just 40 bucks and lifetime updates. So if you click the (YouTube Playlist) link below, you will see much new and BETTER looking videos than this one.

You Need USB or CD DVD to do it by doing offline if you have kinect

Go to google type USB uPDATE XBOX the 1 is at xbox.com update your xbox without xbox live follow the steps

@wwjoshdew dude, I was asleep with my daughter. sorry I couldn't approve it right after you posted it. If you look at the date this was posted, I had the BETA dashboard before it came out to the world on Nov 4th...the only way to get it was to register your xbox with the beta preview site and then they let you know if you got accepted or not. But now it's out to the world, unlike when I made this video... So you can download it now and it will work fine. but you couldn't when this was posted OCT
