Alright, lets look at this.
I'm listening to Dani California right now and what I notice is that the backup guitars are similar but when we play it, we don't strum as much, it's only two and a pause then the next chord. They have two hits, then a chord and a quarter pause. Also, the chords in our song are Gm Am Dm Dm. In the RHCP song, its Am G D D. I'm not sure if they are minors or not, but its definitly different. I'm running out of room so I'll start again in the next reply.

So, as for the melody, I listened to them back to back and don't think they are very similar, not enough for us to be "ripping them off."
Oh and for the biggest flaw in your comment....the bassline...is not like Flea's at all. Flea does crazy licks and movements through the chords, all I'm doing is hitting the root note every time the guitar strums. I think maybe in the loud part of the song it could sound like in somewhat just because I hit weird notes that have nothing to do with the scale.

Also, technically, the Red hot chili peppers ripped off tom petty and the heartbreakers because one of his songs is exactly like dani california. Is even more similar than ours.....Google it or something because I have to go to class and can't use any more time owning your comment.
So, I guess the moral of all this is, don't try to show up bands when you clearly don't know what your talking about. And, why on earth did you say, "Fuck you guys." You lost all validity when you said that....
