The reason why the Rogues Den is so great for firemaking is because banking takes 1-2 seconds.
You can direct you line of burning so that you end your inventory right next to the bank.
After refilling your inventory with logs you only have to click on the minimap and you can already start lighting your logs.
In most other great firemaking places you have to close the bank first which obviously slows down training.
If you start burning a new inventory it's best to go outside of the torches near the wall safes first.
That way you have more room to click while backwards firemaking.
Returning happens inside the torches because you're closer to the bank then so it's easier to direct your firemaking lines.
It's very hard to train there if another person trains there too.
When you want to start a new session of firemaking and a person is already training there I advise you to hop to another world because that's more respectful towards that person.
If a person starts training firemaking at your world when you're already busy with your firemaking session then kindly ask him or her to train firemaking outside the torches near the wall safes.
When that person refuse to do so feel free to do whatever you want.
Backwards firemaking can be a problem at first but I suggest you practice it with 2 tinderboxes first.
When you're able to do it, it'll be well worth it.
This method will require full concentration since it's more challenging, but it's far less boring then regular firemaking.
1 inventory takes about 69 seconds which means you can burn 1408 logs per hour like this.
So, here's a list of experience gains per hour of the commonly burned logs:
Type of Log = Normal Exp/H | Ring of Fire Bonus Exp/H | Ring of Fire + Flame Gloves Exp/H
Willow = 126,720 | 129,254 | 133,056
Maple = 190,080 | 193,882 | 199,584
Eucalyptus = 272,448 | 277,897 | 286,070
Yew = 285,120 | 290,822 | 299,376
Magic = 427,750 | 436,305 | 449,138
Good luck with firemaking!

I was having a go at this earlier, i really can't get it, once a log is lit, i try running and it doesn't respond, and i end up doing it too early and leaving a log there, rather than lighting it, so i am not really sure what i am doing wrong.

You have to wait a little before running. It might also be a good idea to turn your sound effects on. When you hear your fight burning you click a few times to the direction you want to go, then you'll light the fire and run to where you want on the right time. Make sure you get your cursor back to the inventory on time to burn your next log so you don't stop firemaking.

You can also do this at oo'glog and the grand exchange. I find it easiest at oo'glog..you just do half the line the normal way then the other half backwards back to the bank.

The time it takes between ur last fire and the first fire of a new inventory is bigger at oog'log and the grand exchange then it is in the rogues den. I believe I wrote it in the descriptions.
