As one of the 12 members of Congress on the Super Committee, Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) had a front row seat for all the negotiations. Since the committee's announcement late last month that they had failed to reach a deal on at least $1.5 trillion in savings, Toomey has been very vocal that we cannot now ignore our nation's fiscal crisis and that a deal still much be reached.

He visited Heritage this week to discuss the fallout. We caught up with him in his Senate offices to discuss what happened and where we go from here.

  • DEMOCRATS ARE AWESOME. OBAMA 2012!

  • How much could we cut if we nixed all our entitlements paid to foreign countries (especially Isreal), vacated our foreign military occupations, closed our borders, limited military/Pentagon budgets to the local Militia (as they protect our borders from potentially hostile invasions) and the VA service programs (for wounded, debilitated combat soldiers)?

  • Seriously! Heritage, fix the audio. It sounds terrible. I'd love to actually hear you.

  • Super Committee another failed do nothing committee as usual. We The People. No compromises and no commitments leads to nowhere. WE THE PEOPLE WILL VOTE THE BUMS AND FREELOADERS OUT OF OFFICE. WOE......

  • Commie 'education' + Commie Media =

Many Americans believe the LIE that Rich people should give More.

    Laffer Curve is TRUE!!

    Increase Taxes = Decrease Revenue.

  • Boo Yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After listening to Toomey, I get a better understanding of why the federal government is so dysfunnctional. Look at the tenure of the individuals on the committee. They are the ones that caused the problems. I goes without saying that they couldn't sovle them.

  • Even the notion that we had to have a "Super Committee" to balance our budget shows how Washington has failed. The "Super Committee" was doomed to failure from the start. As Sen. Toomey said they(Dem) have an automatic cut in defense spending just by doing nothing! Gee I wonder initiated this whole "Super Committee" idea?
