Hi my solenoids can only pull like 2,5, 3 bar aeround 60 PSI i think.

When i crank the pressure up the solenoids quit working.

How is that with your solenoids?

I have a 24 volt gas line solenoid ( home gas line is aeround 0,35 bar!)

and i am pushing 36 volt trough them.

If yours can switch more then like 5 or 6 bar please tell me wich kind of solenoids your using.

@scuffieduffie well, i used it to nearly 110 psi im not sure wat that is in bars, these solinoids were used on a friends project ages ago, im not sure were they are

110 PSI is aeround 8 bar. ( bar is pressure indication in europe.)

mine can only handle like 50 PSI, so can you tell me the writings on the solenoid ?

Hi Cchange! You are a good tinkerer, nice and simple solutions! I am just curious about the reason to build an air engine, is it just for fun or do you have a goal for this research? Make a car run on compressed air?

this is pretty much just for fun i dont expect air engines to catch on as a energy supply but yeah just for fun

nice design but would solenoids run at high rpms for long times? I heard they are not reliable for long runs, and they can unreliably fail. By the way 1 BAR is 14.7psi.

You can create the same engine with a atmospheric air ?

Y use a 2nd solenoid for the exhaust stroke??? Just use the exhaust port! Use one solenoid to let air in, then when the piston reaches dead bottom, the air escapes out of the exhaust port? besides, if u do use 2 solenoids, the air will still come out of the exhaust port unless u cover it up

i am a little confused i sorta based my engine of of yours but why not use the exost port also i would like you to try to make one with a manically valve like mine i make a resopnce or two

you seem pretty young, and your a wizz at what you do, i only started experimenting with engines lately when i turned 18, but my dads never had a shed, would have told me to read a book rather than do something practical with me, but did you get any help from family?
