    take a group of weak magnets, they will form short weak chains.

    Increase the strength of these magnets with an electric field and you can produce much longer chains.

    a water molecule is a weak magnet, positive on one side negative on the other. Add an electric field and increase this magnets strength creating the effect shown.

    All the water molecules line up while passing the current, thats how it all gets started too. Magnets attract!
