This is a very simple Rocket stove that I made from six concrete blocks in about 2 minutes. I found it to work very well after the initial lighting and it burned clean and hot, very little smoke. I boiled 10 liters of water on it in about 40 minutes and the ambient temp was 48 deg. F. It needed little tending and consumed only a small amount of wood. The blocks never got too hot to touch.
Note the three stones to keep the pot supported - have to follow tradition, ya know. :-)
The cracks between blocks seemed to help by feeding some secondary air to the fire. The triangular shape reduces the number of blocks needed and creates better draft I think. You can see the heat waves coming out around the bottom of the pot - a pot skirt would help keep the heat on the pot and reduce cooking time. Also, the whole thing could be placed on a raised platform to keep from having to bend over so much. (BTW the two weird header blocks are from another project. I would normally just use standard blocks.)
This was quite a satisfying project for so little input and time involved. Let me know if you try it and how it performs for you.

Excellent. Easy. Very common man. Love it. Faved and noted for future reference.

Very nice! I use a wood stove to heat up chemical reaction mixtures but it's massively inefficient and burns wood at an astounding rate. I might try this configuration to make the heating more focused and efficient.
Thanks for sharing!

@YbborNetsrek Thanks! Yes, I've seen those, but they aren't reusable and you can't really keep them going for many hours at a time like you can with a Rocket stove. Nice for when you're out in the bush without a stove, though.

How do you clear the ashes
ASSEMblerEX 1 month ago
@ASSEMblerEX It's very fast, just rotate one of the vertical blocks a bit and pull the ashes out the back, then rotate it back into place. It only takes a minute.

I just wonder why you are just boiling water when this is a perfect opportunity to make some spicy hot sauce!?!? Ha, great stove Cliff, glad to see it up and working!
