A little student production I did with some friends back in 2005 at San Francisco State. Shot on 16mm film using my little Canon Scoopic 16M. We Shot on Kodak 7277 Vision 320T for the interiors and Kodak 7245 EXR 50D for exteriors. We did this in my garage and on the beach near Sutro Heights Park in San Francisco.

We were just starting to hear about the "enhanced interrogation techniques" being used by the military intelligence and the CIA, so we decided to make a short film about it. It's pretty preachy. The actor performing the interrogation is an Iranian actor I used in several of my student films. The idea being that seeing a blonde being interrogated by an Iranian would give people perspective about how our interrogation program was viewed in the nations of the middle east. I was trying to put the viewer in their shoes.

Mainly it gave us a chance to spend some time using 16mm film and editing it. Lemme tell you, though... until you've had someone strapped to a chair in your garage and then proceeded to suffocate them with a sheet of clear plastic you won't really know how freaky "filmmaking" can feel, real or not. Dora had a signal so we'd know if she was having trouble, but she was able to hold her breath a long time and it started to feel like we were making a snuff film.

  • Nice theme for a short!!

The 7245 EXR 50D was expired roll or fresh?

Vivid colors and great look .

    classic 50D!!

    thnx

  • @rousselos Thanks!

@rousselos It was fresh film. It really did have a look and the grain is essentially invisible. Of course, at web resolutions you couldn't see it, anyway. And of course digital is quickly gobbling up the territory that 16mm used to cover.

  • @RRJackson

    i love film!

The 7245 EXR 50D produces excellent gold results!

  • @rousselos Well, for the outdoors shot I was using a Flexfill reflector with a gold reflective surface, so I was hitting her with a lot of golden fill light for those shots.

  • Hey, man! This really good! I'd only seen stills of it before.

  • Thanks, Johnny!
