@dachhh It certainly can be but I would try the shoulder burping technique first. Only after that doesn't work would we use this method.

@Sleepy26177 Hmm, I'm just guessing here, but is it possible your three week old boy is crying for different reasons? I always had a checklist of things I checked for when our daughter was crying at that age- dirty diaper, hunger, gas and warmth. If the gas trick doesn't work, make sure he's well fed, has a clean diaper and has one more layer of clothes on than you do at all times.

Also, feel free to add to my "checklist" since you know your child best!
