Hello fellow knitters! This video will show you how to cast off your knitting. Casting off is also known as binding off. This video demonstrates the basic cast off method, which is fast and easy to work and produces a firm edge to the knitted fabric.

There are many methods of joining new yarn to a piece of knitting, but the most basic of all is to simply work until the end of a row and start the next row with the new yarn. Then later you can weave in the loose yarn ends and even out the tension at the yarn join. If your new yarn is a different colour to the old yarn, then it's important to change colour when the right side of the work is facing you. So, if you're working in stocking stitch, change colours when the smooth side is facing.

Hi Bekii, this video shows the very end of the work, when all of the stitches have been made and you're ready to finish the piece off. If you want to see how to start a piece of knitting, look at the video "How To Knit Basics - Knit Cast On". Then to see how the main stitches are made, look at the videos "How To Knit Basics - The Knit Stitch" and "How To Knit Basics - The Purl Stitch".
Hope that helps!
