Sattriya dance is a classical dance form of India. It is devotional in character and 'Bhakti Rasa' (spiritual aspect) is predominant in this dance form. This dance form was evolved in Assam in the 15th century by the great Vaishnavite saint Shri Sankardev who was a social reformer and a great performing artist. References of this dance form are found in the ancient Indian classical texts like Natyashastra, Kalikapurana, Yoginitantra, Abhinayadarpana and also in sculptures, historical relics etc.
