This is a movie of the Welcome Home Peggy Lee parade held in Valley City, North Dakota, when Peggy Lee (Formerly Norma Egstrom) came to perform at the 1950 North Dakota Winter Show. She performed at the City Auditorium several shows a day. Peggy Lee got her professional start singing over KOVC radio 1490 in 1936. The day after this film was made there was a howling blizzard and Peggy Lee and her brother borrowed a truck to drive to Wimbledon, North Dakota to see her father who was sick. Peggy Lee graduated from Wimbledon High School in 1937 and once lived above the Midland Continental Railroad Depot there with her family as her father was the depot agent there. If you have really sharp eyes you might spot a young Stanley Kubrick who was in Valley City taking photos of Peggy Lee in her home town of Valley City, North Dakota. He would be standing on the corner across the street from where this movie was taken on the Valley Furniture corner.
What rare footage and wonderful to see Peggy in this way and in colour - thanks for sharing this .
