I saw this tonight on TCM...the whole second half of this movie and the agony of the main characters is gut-wrenching... Kudos to Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine for bravura performances. And with "Splendor in the grass" as the movie shown immediately before it, it's been a tough night emotionally.

I believe that any of the actors in this movie were gutsy for staring in this. It could have ruined their careers at the time it was made. It took courage.

This makes me so sad. Sad that people had to live this way and feel so ashamed. Props to Miss Lillian for bringing this to light at a time when no one wanted to talk about it.
