The Shorter Mansion located in the Seth Lore Historic District of Eufaula, AL was built in 1884.
Operated by the Eufaula Heritage Association the Mansion is open for tours Monday through Saturday.
The Seth Lore Historic District encompasses over 700 homes in this Southeastern Alabama town of approximatley 14,000 residents.
The mansion was briefly featured in the 2002 movie "Sweet Home Alabama." Starring Reese Witherspoon.

The scene where Reese Witherspoon is driving down Eufaula Ave. was filmed July, 2002 on a Sunday. The police shut down both sides of the street while the movie people did there stuff. That was the only scene in the movie filmed in Eufaula. The director wanted to film the entire movie there but was unable to locate a suitable farm house for the numerous countryside scenes. Threfore most of the movie was filmed outside Atlanta.
