I'ts all allright, but were has gone that free spirited musicianship of horowitz and richter and other great musicians? I feel nowdays all that manny young pianists are trying to do is to be likeable, they're all just too f-ing polite -no one really goes to the end! And I don't mean mannerism, good forte or other bullshit -but go to the end with your emotions!

@dzeljpiano Don't you think they can choose whatever piano brand they want? The Judges are tired of the loud sounds the S&S produce.

This kind of artistry needs to be supported by steinway& sons to achieve it´s rare beauty !

So beautiful... I feel my soul is cleansed with warm silky flow of water scented with myrtle. I also imagine smell of freshly baked wheat bread steaming under the incandescent light over dark cozy background.

@lrmusiclab ...check out Emanuel Ax

Try Perlemuter's version...

@Zodiarkz haha, I've just understood your point of view...she's playing in a real live competition...not in a recording studio. So, you're even more naive to think that it's the same delivery.

@cioccolateria At a certain level of mastery, you can't judge anymore on 'objective' criteria. You sound like an academic erudite who doesn't fully master one -practical- thing in his life, let say the piano.

Avdeeva's version of this piece is just as good as eating the freshest oysters and caviar with the best bottle of champagne. I love it!

It's very beautifully played, but would sound more romantic played on a Bosendorfer...
It takes a special sensitivity, a high degree of technical perfection and an advanced artistry to bring out the finer points of this almost unbelievably beautiful music. Yulianna Avdeeva on the strength of this performance has all those qualities. And on another note, we all owe a debt of gratitude to YouTube for allowing us to enjoy these amazing things that we would never otherwise have been able to experience.

For one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written one of the best performances ever heard!
I like almost more than that of Zimerman.
