This is a February 1996 interview with Cy Young Award winner Sparky Lyle conducted by Jim Roselle of radio station WJTN in Jamestown NY. Sparky had a 17 year career highlighted by stints with the Red Sox and Yankees.

  • Yaz almost screwed himself into the ground trying to hit Guidry's slider

  • shouts to Yaz 's MVP season in 1967. He was probably the greatest player I ever saw live.

  • I don't think he ever threw anything else. Slider after slider.

  • Sparky had a legendary slider. It was virtually unhittable.
