  • Just watched this for the umpeenth time and just love it

  • Wonderful to see Maureen Potter, she stayed with us regularly in the mid 50's when appearing in Kilkenny. She was as big then In Ireland as Cilla Black was in England. But she always insisted on eating breakfast in our little kitchen and helping get us off to school, bless her she was such a lovely girl. Later turned down a £1 million offer from holloywwod

  • Hi there...interesting to see this. My Grandfather was Harry O'Donovan, who wrote all Jimmy O'Deas material including his plays, films and even songs! I knew Maureen Potter when I was a child, in fact she often came over to my grandfathers house with Jimmy O'Dea after their performances in The Gaiety Theatre, and get really pissed late into the night!

  • Completely agreed!

  • Wow - thanks for putting all this stuff up. Whoever had the idea for taping it originally is a true forward-thinking legend!

  • RTE depended on the Billie Barry Kids for years for any variety type show they had. Their performance style never changed over thirty years - perky and over emoting kids that when I was a kid myself I found profoundly embarrassing to watch but all the adults used to go "aahh!" everytime they came on.

  • RTE wiped most of their classic TV from the 60's and 70's. It's great t see snippets survived! Love this stuff.

  • As kids, we never missed a Xmas show/pantomime at the Gaiety with Maureen Potter. Loved her "Gaels of Laughter" too. She lived near my area and was a regular sight. So tiny - Very nice lady and soooo funny. Herself,Roseleen Lenihan and Jimmy O'Dea - but she was No. 1. No one ever filled her shoes - a true legend. Thanks for giving the chance to see these videos. Do you happen to know if there's a video of Jimmy O'Dea's show "Fado Fado" ? I tried RTE - no luck!
